From June 23th on Evil Penguin TV: Blumenstrauß, a bouquet of Lieder and music for solo piano by R. Strauss, Wolf, Grieg,… Spring unfolds in this streaming of soprano Dorine Mortelmans and pianist Barbara Baltussen. Marieke van Hooff presents. This is the broadcasting of the live concert from April the 3th 2021, the second concert of the duo.
Teresa – live streaming April 27th
Dorine Mortelmans (Teresa, soprano), Frank Agsteribbe (harpsichord), Bernard Woltèche (cello) and Marieke van Hooff (narrator) tell the story of Teresa Cornelys, an 18th century opera diva and power woman. Live streaming from the Jezuïetenkerk in Lier (Belgium) with music of Vivaldi, Gluck, Haendel, J.C. Bach, … (Spoken text in Dutch.)
Teresa Imer (1723-1797), ook wel Teresa Cornelys, Madame de Pompeati of … was “een straffe madam”. Ze had een internationale carrière als sopraan en was de eerste vrouwelijke directeur van de Opera in Antwerpen. In Londen organiseerde ze maskerades, huisconcerten, feestjes, … met alles erop en eraan voor de Londense elite in haar Carlisle House.
We zien haar tijdens de laatste dagen van haar leven: ziek, eenzaam en blut. Opgesloten in de gevangenis door haar schuldeisers, kijkt ze terug op een bewogen leven. Een leven vol overvloed, celebrity, moederschap, Casanova en andere minnaars … Een leven vol drama.
